THE HOTEL 1928

The 1928 Hotel Magnolia is a unique, vintage property located in Waco Texas. It was restored in 2023 by Magnolia Design out of love and respect for its storied history, character and architecture. In its day, the original structure served as a gathering place with philanthropic ideals and accomplishments on behalf of the surrounding community for decades. Its abandoned 53,000 sq foot building was painstakingly renovated, keeping the cultural “golden age” integrity of the era alive through design elements and museum-like details. 

The 33 guest bedrooms and suites of the 1928 Hotel were former lounges, offices and other gathering rooms used throughout the Roaring 20’s. Transformation has created warm, dramatic and stately spaces with unique furniture and décor.

Samuelson was proudly specified to furnish these rooms with many of the captivating story-telling pieces that honor both past and present with striking attention to detail.

This featured king bedroom suite provides a comfortable luxury experience.  Two prominent wardrobe units with abundant storage flank the streamlined marble desk.    

The distinguished two-poster bed is eloquent focal point to the guest room with its period carved turnings and rich dark finish.  An oval cocktail table with walnut frame, brass accents and inset marble top is reflective of Roaring 20s elegance with fresh ambiance. 

The Brasserie Restaurant

The Brasserie, the main dining room of Hotel 1928, offers a subtle, luxury experience. The space, historically used as county offices, maintains original structural beams and floor to ceiling windows allowing natural light and city views against modern graphic wall décor and mirrored panels. Relaxation and comfort welcome up to 300 guests and Samuelson Furniture proudly provided round, stone top tables with beautiful wood-carved pedestal bases to compliment the mixed materials and warm wood tones used throughout the venue.
